I can't be the first person to notice that jute-hating Bruce "Corky" Corcoran's last name is very similar to the scientific genus of jute, namely "Corchorus", can I?

That's a hard question to answer. But I've read nearly all the books
about Wodehouse that have been published and have never seen it mentioned.

You may have noticed that alt.fan.wodehouse doesn't get a lot of traffic
these days. Most of the people who used to post here are now using
PGWnet, an email discussion group sponsored by The Wodehouse Society,
and this group will put you in touch with the foremost experts in
Wodehouse scholarship and research as well as plenty of ordinary readers
and fans.

Judging by your comment above, I think you'd be a useful addition to the
group and would enjoy the topics discussed.

For more information about the PGWnet mailing list, see

http://www.wodehouse.org/PGWnet.html

You don't have to be a member of The Wodehouse Society to join PGWnet,
but if you're interested, see

That's probably the origin of his hatred for Jute.
