I was just re-reading Full Moon. Blister's first attempt at painting
the pig results in an effort that shows the pig drunk. I remember
from my earlier reading of this book that this was because Lord
Emsworth emptied Tipton's flask into her feed trough but don't see any
mention of this in the book.

Was it in some other book that the pig ended up actually intoxicated?

Yes, it was in "Galahad at Blandings" (U. S. title: "The Brinkmanship of
Galahad Threepwood").

But it wasn't Clarence who emptied Tipton's flask in the sty - it was
Wilfred Allsop.

Thanks Ian. Unfortunately the local library system doesn't have it.
Wondering if I want to pony up 3 bucks plus 3.50 shipping to buy it
from half.com (where for some strange reason there is a copy listed
for 51 dollars too)

Perhaps the $51 copy is a first edition or some such.

I'm shocked that your local library system doesn't have it. A stern
letter to the Committee seems called for.

I don't know about stern but I will definitely make a recommendation.
I doubt however think that the committee, if that is what the decision
making body is, will give me a forum to make an impassioned case for a
PGW work.

In all fairness to the "committee" when I called them up they said
that a new edition of the book was due out in Aug '09 and they would
get a copy of it then. I checked on Amazon and indeed a new edition
is coming out next August.

One hopes not; you'd hate for the pig to wake up the next day and not
remember where the tattoo came from.
